I’m so excited!!

April 30, 2017

open sign

It’s that time of the year – Spring!  It’s also that time of the year when my favorite tour spots are re-opening and I can’t wait to bring you there!  We have so many fun things to do and see in and around Ogunquit, I thought I’d list a few that are opening this week:

  • Ogunquit Museum of American Art – https://ogunquitmuseum.org – This amazing art museum features an ever changing array of American artists and has the most beautiful gardens around their own rocky cove.  They are open May 1st – October 31st and are on the weekly activities schedule.
  • York Center for Wildlife – http://www.thecenterforwildlife.org – Another guest favorite, they are back to offering a weekly educational program.  You’ll get to meet a wildlife ‘ambassador’ up close, hear about the wonderful work they do with our native critters, and even a baby bird room tour!
  • Nubble Light Gift Shop – http://nubblelight.org – The gift shop has reopened for the season; you’ll find artwork, maps, clothing, and lots of information about the lighthouse.   Yup, we take a tour here…
  • Strawbery Banke – http://www.strawberybanke.org – The historical homes are open for the season along with special programs offered all summer.  While this isn’t one of our scheduled activities tours, we always recommend a trip here!

These suggestions are just a few of our spring tour offerings, be sure to check out our weekly schedule on the Innseason Resorts website.  You can also call me, anytime!  Looking forward to meeting you, enjoy the day – Sue

Maine loves the Arts!

April 2, 2017

arts

Not only do I love being outdoors exploring our forests and beaches, but I also love art of all kinds!  Theatre and fine arts are some of my favorites, and thankfully, Ogunquit has both.  Our very own Ogunquit Museum of American Art is preparing for their season opening on May 1st.  They highlight American artists, and especially famous Maine artists.  The appeal of this smaller museum is that you don’t feel overwhelmed; you can thoroughly enjoy all the galleries and still have time to wander around outdoors, taking in the sculptures, the amazing gardens, and the breathtaking views of the ocean and rocky cliffs.   After a nice lunch at any of our fine restaurants, then it’s time to take in a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse.  They are starting off their summer season with ‘Mamma Mia’ on May 17th. (I’ll be there for opening night!) After that, it’s hit after musical hit.  This is definitely a venue you don’t want to pass on, it’s not your typical summer stock.  Actors come from all over to perform here and every single show is Broadway quality.  An insider tip:  there are no bad seats in the house, at any price point…Is live music your cup of tea?  Well then, how about enjoying a cup at Jonathan’s in Ogunquit while singing along with Judy Collins?  She’ll be there on May 5th and is a regular headliner.  In case you prefer comedy or full bands, they have those, too.  Oh, and you can enjoy a nice dinner there before the show, as well.

We certainly have more options for you artsy types, as well.  Just up the road is the Portland Museum of Art.  Our current activities schedule offers a weekly shuttle so you don’t even have to find a place to park!  And, if you’re heading south, you should make a stop in Portsmouth and take in a show at the Music Hall.

This small list only touches on the variety of arts activities you can enjoy.  You can always call us at The Falls and we’ll let you know what’s going on and where.  Below, I’ve listed the websites for the places I mentioned.  Hope you check them out, and hope to see you soon!  Enjoy the day, Sue
