Kennebunkport Prelude 2012

November 20, 2012

The enduring popularity of Prelude – now celebrating its 31st year – is a testament to its spirit, its successful mix of activities from public suppers, to parades, to music and traditional holiday favorites, and, most importantly, the hours of work put in by community volunteers, businesses and nonprofits. Over the years, Prelude has spanned the first two weekends in December – this year from Thursday, November 29, to Sunday, December 9 – and has taken place in Kennebunkport, Cape Porpoise and Kennebunk Lower Village.
The events are a mix of traditional and new, she says. “We looked for imaginative ways to really build up the second weekend, with lots of entertainment, some new events and also traditional favorites. We really want local residents and our neighbors in surrounding towns to enjoy what we are offering.”
To kick off the second weekend, there will be a second tree lighting in Dock Square at 5:30 PM on Friday, December 7, with caroling led by local singer Amy Allen prior to the lighting.
