All Mainers know that you just can’t count on our weather to stay the same for any reasonable period of time. That’s why we will always try to run the majority of our activities as scheduled, rain or shine, warm or cold.
Beach Rentals for the week
Get your beach chairs, shade tents, beach caddies and more! Get your rentals from the Activities Office upstairs from the Lobby.
Rentals are cash only and cannot be charged to your room.

8:40-11:00am Walking Tour of the Marginal Way
Join us on a guided tour of Maine’s most famous footpath. See the sights and learn the fascinating story behind this special piece of coastline. Tour participants will need to be comfortable walking up to 2.5 miles. This is a spectacular trip that will demand the attention of your camera! Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. Meet by the Lobby for departure. This walk will begin in Perkins cove and end at main beach. This trip is limited to the first 10 people to sign-up.

1:15-3:30pm Kayaking
Kayak one of our beautiful tidal rivers and estuaries located along our southern coast. Experience the tranquility of gliding along the waterways while watching for wildlife and taking in the exceptional scenery. Participants can choose to paddle with the group or explore on their own. This trip is not guided by a kayak instructor and participants need to be comfortable handling a kayak or canoe on their own or with their partner. Kayaks have open seats and are very user friendly. Wear clothing and shoes that can get wet (water will drip off your paddle) and a bathing suit if you want to swim. Bring water and sun protection. Locations will be selected according to current weather and tidal conditions. Cost for boat rentals will be around $25/single and $40/doubles and will be paid at the rental shop. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

8:50- 11:45am Coastal Bike Ride
Enjoy a leisurely bike ride along southern Maine’s picturesque coastline. This ride is for taking in the sights along the rocky shoreline and the sandy beaches. This tour allows for several stops where riders can get off the bikes, soak up the scenery, look for seals, and take some stunning pictures. Equipment is available for all ages. The ride is approximately 9 miles long and done at a leisurely pace. Participants will need to dress for the weather and bring water bottles. You must register ahead of time at the Front desk. Meet in the Activities office upstairs from the Lobby 5 minutes before scheduled departure to complete rental forms. There is a $10 cash fee for this activity due at time of registration. Participants must be able to ride a bike safely!

2:15-3:30pm Stand Up Paddle boarding
Discover how fun and easy paddle boarding can be. Paddle boards allow you to walk across the water giving you a totally unique experience unlike any other water sport! This is a great activity for people of all ages who are comfortable in the water. The cost for this activity is $20pp and will be paid at the rental shop. Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. This trip is limited to the first 5 people to sign-up. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles. Meet by the Lobby for departure.

Thursday September 6th 2012

Designated for children 7 and under and their adult guardian(s).

Follow Jeff as he guides you through this spectacular Research Reserve. The trails traverse through upland fields, woodlands, salt marsh, and out to a beautiful sandy beach. This is a superb spot to enjoy nature in all her seasons. Participants will also learn about coastal ecology and the history of a saltwater farm. Don’t forget your camera as this is one of the last pristine pieces of Southern Maine coastline! The walk will be about 1.5 miles long. Dress appropriately for weather conditions and bring some water. Long sleeves, pants, hat, or bug spray always helps to keep the bugs away during the summer months. Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. There is a $3 entry fee for adults and $1 fee for kids ages 6-16. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

Sally’s Back at the Playhouse!

August 27, 2012

Ogunquit’s favorite summer actress has returned to the Playhouse for the second time this season! Sally Struthers started the 2012 year with Always, Patsy Cline and has now returned to delight us in Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5 the Musical”. It runs through September 15.


The show is based on the hit movie about three workers who plan to get even with their egotistical, lying hypocritical boss. When their plan spins wildly out of control, the situation becomes hilarious and the laughter is non-stop…The music is by Dolly Parton and it mixes Broadway and pop with Dolly’s irresistible style. Anyone who ever wanted to get back at their boss will find this witty musical adventure to be perfect entertainment . Belly laughs at super-jet speed!

Wish you could bring the sun from your vacation home with you? Well you can by creating your very own sun catcher. Paint a beautiful flip flop or tropical fish and hang it in your window at home to catch the sun! Meet upstairs in the Activities Office.

3:15-4:15pm Pool Volleyball
Meet in the pool for a fun game of volleyball. This is a great game for both kids and adults. Get your exercise while having a blast!

Kayak one of our beautiful tidal rivers and estuaries located along our southern coast. Experience the tranquility of gliding along the waterways while watching for wildlife and taking in the exceptional scenery. Participants can choose to paddle with the group or explore on their own. This trip is not guided by a kayak instructor and participants need to be comfortable handling a kayak or canoe on their own or with their partner. Kayaks have open seats and are very user friendly. Wear clothing and shoes that can get wet (water will drip off your paddle) and a bathing suit if you want to swim. Bring water and sun protection. Locations will be selected according to current weather and tidal conditions. Cost for boat rentals will be around $25/single and $40/doubles and will be paid at the rental shop. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

For holding seashells or hidden treasures! Design and paint your own treasure box. Meet upstairs in the Activities Office.

could be so sinfully sweet! This event will take place on the outside patio by the pool In case of rain, this event will be held upstairs in the Activities Office.

A treat for the whole family! The kids get to enjoy pizza for dinner while watching a movie or playing an assortment of fun games. The parents get to enjoy some precious time to themselves! This activity will take place in the reception center. Movies shown will be appropriate for all ages. This activity is open to kids ages 6-12. Parents must register their children at the front desk by 11:00am, Tuesday morning. There will be an $8.00 cash fee paid at the time of registration. This activity is limited to the first 15 kids registered only. Sorry, no late admittance will be allowed. Parents must drop off and pick up their kids in person. Please understand that these rules are necessary to create the safest environment possible for your kids.

Come explore one of Maine’s most active environments! Maine’s intertidal zones are teeming with life and offer many different habitats for all sorts of marine life. These areas are unique and constantly changing. Participants must be able to safely walk on rocks and uneven surfaces. Shoes with good traction are required (No flip flops please!). Meet by the Lobby for departure.

Come experience the beauty of our coastal mountains and the best views Southern Maine has to offer! The trail has moderate terrain and is 2 miles long. Participants should be in good physical condition and will need to bring a water bottle. Be sure to dress appropriately to match the weather conditions. Long sleeves, pants, hat, or bug spray always helps to keep the bugs away during the summer months. Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

1:30-3:30pm Tidal River and Barrier Beach Walk
Explore the sights and sounds of the tidal river that helps create our unique barrier beach system that has become an oasis for our coastal wildlife. Learn about the history and ecology of this threatened ecosystem. This is a beautiful exploratory walk that allows participants to engage all their senses while discovering the hidden secrets of this special place. The walk is approximately 2 miles. Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. Meet by the Lobby where we will depart on foot.

Create your own kite to hang in your room or let it fly high! This event will be held upstairs in the Activities Office.

Kayak one of our beautiful tidal rivers and estuaries located along our southern coast. Experience the tranquility of gliding along the waterways while watching for wildlife and taking in the exceptional scenery. Participants can choose to paddle with the group or explore on their own. This trip is not guided by a kayak instructor and participants need to be comfortable handling a kayak or canoe on their own or with their partner. Kayaks have open seats and are very user friendly. Wear clothing and shoes that can get wet (water will drip off your paddle) and a bathing suit if you want to swim. Bring water and sun protection. Locations will be selected according to current weather and tidal conditions. Cost for boat rentals will be around $25/single and $40/doubles and will be paid at the rental shop. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

Design your own sand creation! Create your own wavy bottle masterpiece. Meet upstairs in the Activity Office.

Come experience the beauty of our coastal mountains and the best views Southern Maine has to offer! The trail has moderate terrain and is 2 miles long. Participants should be in good physical condition and will need to bring a water bottle. Be sure to dress appropriately to match the weather conditions. Long sleeves, pants, hat, or bug spray always helps to keep the bugs away during the summer months. Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

Think field day only happened in elementary school? Well it happens here, too! Come enjoy balloon tosses, relay races, and more! We’ll need at least two teams of two to complete this event. So, make sure you sign up on the Field Day List, located next to the Activities Office door. For kids ages 6-12. Meet on the side lawn behind building 1

A treat for the whole family! The kids get to enjoy pizza for dinner while watching a movie or playing an assortment of fun games. The parents get to enjoy some precious time to themselves! This activity will take place in the reception center. Movies shown will be appropriate for all ages. This activity is open to kids ages 6-12. Parents must register their children at the front desk by 11:00am, Wednesday morning. There will be an $8.00 cash fee paid at the time of registration. This activity is limited to the first 15 kids registered only. Sorry, no late admittance will be allowed. Parents must drop off and pick up their kids in person. Join us on a guided tour of Maine’s most famous footpath. See the sights and learn the fascinating story behind this special piece of coastline. Tour participants will need to be comfortable walking up to 2.5 miles. This is a spectacular trip that will demand the attention of your camera! Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. Meet by the Lobby for departure. This walk will begin in Perkins cove and end at main beach. This trip is limited to the first 10 people to sign-up.

9:30-10:30am Design Your Own Picture Frame
A chance for kids to create a souvenir from their vacation. Work with assorted materials to construct your very own picture frame! Meet upstairs in the Activities Office.

8:50- 11:45am Coastal Bike Ride
Enjoy a leisurely bike ride along southern Maine’s picturesque coastline. This ride is for taking in the sights along the rocky shoreline and the sandy beaches. This tour allows for several stops where riders can get off the bikes, soak up the scenery, look for seals, and take some stunning pictures. Equipment is available for all ages. The ride is approximately 9 miles long and done at a leisurely pace. Participants will need to dress for the weather and bring water bottles. You must register ahead of time at the Front desk. Meet in the Activities office upstairs from the Lobby 5 minutes before scheduled departure to complete rental forms. There is a $10 cash fee for this activity due at time of registration. Participants must be able to ride a bike safely!

9:30-10:30am Kids Expression Session
A chance for kids to be expressive using an array of crafts. Choose anything from coloring to painting to creating just about anything! Meet upstairs in the activities office.

10:45-11:45am Design Your Own Treasure Box
For holding seashells or hidden treasures! Design and paint your own treasure box. Meet upstairs in the Activities Office.

We will travel along the back roads through beautiful farmland and quaint home sites on route to an inland preserve. Once there, we will follow a 2 mile trail that leads through a majestic old world forest and along the banks of Southern Maine’s most historic river. Here, you will learn the history of the river and story behind the historic house that sits upon the hill. Participants will need to be in good physical condition in order to complete the trail in a moderate walking pace. With incredible forest trails, beautiful river views, and a historic estate, this trip has it all! Participants need to sign up in advance in the hallway directly across from the Front Desk. There is a $3 entry fee for adults. Meet by the Lobby for departure. Participants will need to drive their own vehicles.

Lobster in the Rough

Tucked away on Route 1, just behind The Lobster Barn Seafood and Grill is Lobster in the Rough, affectionately known by locals as “Roughies”. This is a Caribbean feel spot where you can relax and lounge at the outdoor bar, eat on the bar deck at picnic tables or in the dining room, play a game of Bocce Ball ( 2 courts) or Horseshoes (2 pits).
Enjoy your favorite drinks, appetizers, lobster, clams, mussels, haddock, burgers, chicken, fries, salads, corn on the cob and more! There are specials every day of the week: Monday is Mussel Madness (2.50/order) with Margarita Night Special, Tuesday Ladie’s Night Sangria Special, Wednesday is Rum Punch Night with 7:00 Trivia, Thursday is the Bocce Ball Tournament with Men’s night Draft Beer Special, on Friday there is a DJ spinning your Favorites, Live Music on Saturday and Sunday specials for Bloody Marys and Mimosas with live music 4-8.
