The Patriots are coming! The Patriots are coming!

March 12, 2012

It’s almost that time of year again- Daylight savings has started and the town has officially announced the schedule for the 22nd annual Patriot’s Day weekend celebration! Here in Ogunquit, that means the official opening of the town and everyone is enthusiastic for the new season. This year we escaped the heavy snowfalls of the winter so we’ve been experiencing very mild, springlike weather and we almost think the season has started!
As usual, activities will begin on Friday (April 12), and are focused at the Ogunquit Baptist Church with historical re-enactments and a fife and drum concert. The Library Book Sale also starts on Friday, just across the street from the church.
Most activities are on Saturday and include the usual Beach Bazaar in the main beach tents, Hayrides, Taste of the Town with food from local participating restaurants, and Bingo at the Fire Station. This year there will also be Roaming Railroad and Pony rides, Colonial Children’s games and crafts, an Historical Figure Treasure Hunt, Ogunquit Stocks, Fire Truck and Police Car (available all weekend for photo opportunities at the main beach parking lot) and more.
On Sunday, the Beach Bazaar continues, along with Hay Rides and the Roaming Railroad and Pony Rides. At noon, the annual Duck Race at the Beach Street Bridge and from 12:00 to 3:00 a new event, The Patriotic Pooch Fashion Show located at Angelina’s with prizes for dogs in costumes!
Make your plans now for this fun-filled weekend here in Ogunquit. We have space for you here at the Falls!
