The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, a must see destination, encompass 250 acres of shore front on the mid-coast. The gardens feature spectacular ornamental gardens and miles of waterfront and woodland trails meandering by beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, waterfalls, fountains and scenic views.
Besides a children’s garden that includes a maze and a daily story time, children and adults will enjoy their Maine Fairy House Festival from Friday August 3 to 5, which will have all kinds of activities, live performances, a fairy tea, Gnome games, a Great Bubble Machine, a fairy house village and crafts.
The gardens, at Barters Island Road, in Boothbay, are open 9am to 5pm year round, with a café and gift shop open seasonally. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors age 65 and over and $6 for children ages 3 to 14 (free for children under age 3). Boothbay Harbor is 93 miles north of the Falls , a two hour drive, but a little longer in mid-season!
