Ogunquit 2012 Mardi Gras


This year, Ogunquit will once again hold its Mardi Gras Celebration to coincide with Carnivale in Rio! It’s February 17-19 and begins with the hilarious King and Queen Crowning competition on Friday night at 8:30 at Main Street.

Saturday, the 18th is packed with joyful activities:
At 10am-noon there will be an ice sculpture demonstration in the Fancy That courtyard. Watch as Wicked Good Ice Carving creates a Mardi Gras themed ice sculpture before your very eyes!
From 11:30-1pm at Main Street is a hat and mask making party where you will create a spectacular hat to wear directly afterward in the hat parade-then take it home as a souvenir of your great weekend in Ogunquit.
The Hat and Mask Parade starts at 1pm at Main Street and travels down route 1 to the Old Village Inn. You can also bring a wagon decked out in a Mardi Gras theme. Prizes awarded!

From 1:30 to 3pm is the awards ceremony at the OVI. Are you wearing the best hat or pulling the best float? Find out now.
From 3-4:30 is the Island Tones Steel Drum Band Concert at the Front Porch. This is a local band, so sip a rum punch and imagine that you are sitting on a warm beach somewhere!
