Wood Island Lighthouse

The Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse will be offering history tours to Wood Island Lighthouse during the months of July and August, for the eighth consecutive year. Visitors will travel to the island via their boat Light Runner, traverse the one half mile raised wooden boardwalk (no handrails here) and will be able to tour the dwelling house, climb the tower if they choose, view pictures about the life of the keepers of this light and hear stories of events which took place here over the last 200 years.
Tours are offered on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. $10 donations suggested, as all aspects of these tours are offered by volunteers and all proceeds go towards saving this lighthouse. F.O.W.I.L. is a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation. For more information please visit http://www.woodislandlighthouse.org or call 207-286-3229 to make a reservation the week you plan to tour.
