This year, Ogunquit is adding an all new weekend to Christmas by the Sea! Join us for all new activities on Saturday, December 4, and an evening of community goodwill on Sunday, December 5! The traditional festivities will continue on the weekend of December 10-12.
On Saturday, December 4 the weekend long Family Scavenger Hunt begins. Starting at 11:00 at the Dunaway Center, there will be kids Holiday Card Making, Write a letter to Santa (Mrs. Claus will pick them up for delivery to the North Pole) and The Recipe Swap (a special sale hosted by Ogunquit’s non-profits and restaurants).Move over to Jonathan’s at 1:00 for the Young Maine Readers Holiday Tea, and complete the afternoon with a book signing at Animal Instinct by Ed Shankman. In the evening, there will be a performance by the Ogunquit Performing Arts.
On Sunday, December 5, at 4:00 at Main Street Bar, The Ogunquit Spirit of Giving 6th annual holiday party will be held. This is for people who have contributed gifts for the children the town has signed up for Christmas support. At 5:00 go to Bintliff’s for the Marginal Way Preservation Fund’s Meatloaf Competition .
The next Friday, December 10, brings the traditional Christmas by the Sea Weekend! On Friday night there will be Carolers, a concert at the Ogunquit Baptist Church, the town Tree Lighting at Veteran’s Park and the evening’s finale, a Bonfire at the Main Beach.
Saturday, December 11 is jam packed, beginning with Hay Rides starting at Veteran’s Park. Kids can visit Santa upstairs at the Fire Station and the family can attend the Annual Arts and Crafts Show there as well. Another book signing at Animal Instinct with Matt Tavares is at 10:00.Holiday Storytelling at the Ogunquit Baptist Church at 11:00 and then move to the Dunaway Center at 11:30 for the Giving Tree Silent Auction and the Chowder and Chocolatfest . In the afternoon, there is an open house at the Ogunquit Heritage Museum, Kids ornament making at the Ogunquit Baptist, and our own Christmas parade! After the parade , there will be the Perkins Cove Tree Lighting and Caroling and the live Manger at the Ogunquit Baptist Church. Still at the church, there will be a Barbershop Quartetconcert “Melodies and Memories.
Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, December 12, will be more Hayrides, an open house at the Ogunquit Heritage Museum and in Wells, the Southern Maine Christmas Parade.
Whew- sounds like a fun packed weekend…and a secret- on Monday after the weekend, is Spoiled Rotten’s annual ½ price sale…… Come visit us!
