York’s Wild Animal Kingdom

York’s Wild Animal Kingdom, located six miles south of the resort, in York Beach, Maine, has something to offer every member of the family. It has opened for the season! Each year, more than 200,000 people come to visit the largest zoo and amusement park in the area. With exotic animals from around the world, York’s Wild Animal Kingdom is recognized for its rare species and knowledgeable curators.

They offer a variety of family rides, paddle boats, miniature golf course, a petting zoo, scenic picnic grounds and even a Haunted House! Educational learning sessions take place throughout the day and a special member of the zoo Rewa-Maine’s only White Bengal Tiger-will amaze and delight the child in everyone. And don’t miss the Butterfly Kingdom…

Entry can be for just the zoo, or for the zoo and amusement park. In the spring season, the amusement park is open on weekends only and the zoo is open every day. Additional things you will see at York’s Wild Animal Kingdom include an Elephant ride and show, 7 primate exhibits, a deer feeding area, pony rides, an aviary with numerous species of birds, and many, many different animals. The Amusement Park includes a Ferris Wheel, Merry Go Round, Kiddie Bumper Boats, Bumper cars, Batting Cages, Go Karts, Midways Games and much, much more.

Landscaping project begins

We’ve begun the roadside renovation project.  It already looks good without those bushes on the side of the road.  We’ll be moving sprinklers and sodding that area.  Can’t wait to show you more pictures of progress.

All Aboard!

Jeff took a group of guests on a walk to the Rachel Carson Wildlife Perserve this week.  It was a beautiful day and everone got a chance to learn about the saltmarshes and types of animals living in and around the coast of Maine.  A great experiance for all.  Many guests remarked that they never knew the history of the area and were very pleased.

Barn Gallery Opens its 50th season

Celebrating a new season of wonderful local art and creative activities, The Barn Gallery enters its 50th year with a dynamic array of exhibitions. The opening exhibition runs from May 20th through June 20th, with a gala reception on Saturday, May 23rd from 5 to 8 pm. All are invited to view the new exhibitions and meet with the artists.
The Barn Gallery was built by the Barn Gallery Associates in co-operation with the Ogunquit Art Association in 1958 to provide exhibition space for the artists of the Ogunquit Art Association and a center for cultural activities. Today, it is a vital part of the lively cultural life of Ogunquit and the surrounding area.
The Ogunquit Arts Collaborative was founded in 1997 to administer the Barn Gallery and to present exhibitions by local professional artists. It also hosts and co-sponsors chamber music concerts, an art film series and Poets in Person in conjunction with the Ogunquit Performing Arts. The efforts and support of the artists make the Barn Gallery a truly exceptional place to experience the finest art of the southern seacoast area.

Exercise Room

As we all know, the excercise room is a small area.  In the goal to make it look bigger, we decided to split the mirror in half.  We are also going to get some stationary bikes and situate them against the new half wall.  I think it we’ll get much more use of out that previous wasted space.

Ogunquit Playhouse Opens

Broadway Returns to Ogunquit!
On Wednesday May 20, the curtains go up at the Ogunquit Playhouse to begin the 77th season! This season includes some of Broadway’s most beloved classics along with two brand new productions; all taking you on a musical journey down memory lane. Back by popular demand, the blockbuster Disney High School Musical will entertain audiences of all ages, while the Children’s Theater program expands, now offering shows on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Filled with song, dance and magic; every show this season will leave you with a spring in your step and a song in your heart!
The opening show is A Chorus Line, running from May 20-Jume 13. Starring Lorenzo Llamas and winner of nine Tony Awards, this “One Singular Sensation” follows 17 would-be dancers in their quest to make the cut for a new Broadway Musical. The quintessential backstage musical, A Chorus Line, recreated on the Playhouse stage, complete with Broadway sets and costumes, offers an intimate look at the lives of gypsy dancers and their quest for a spot on the line. It’s what they’ve worked for-with every drop of sweat, every hour of training, every day of their lives. One by one, they come forward to share their stories. They put themselves on the line to get a job on the line. When they’re done, so is the audition. And only eight will remain….
Following A Chorus Line will be Shout, a swinging 60’s sensation, running from June 17-July 11.Then comes Guys and Dolls, running from July 15- August 8, Singin’ in the Rain, running from August 12- September 12, and finally All Shook Up, with all Elvis hits and starring Sally Struthers, running from September 16- October 11.
